People are still renting though... I rented my pad out for 1800/night for 4 nights. I just think the demand piqued quite a bit ago for F1 weekend. I’m not sure what the occupancy looked like downtown... I was still able to rent hotels on points all weekend via 2 of the chains. Weird.

... cool thing is... thats about what the tickets cost on CL for Sundays race. :)

You can just tell the interest just isnt there any more by walking downtown every year to see how few people there are and how sad the “Fan Fest” has got since the crazy year 1/2 events.

... Completely agree. Sadly, over the last 10-15 years all the development is increasing traffic, gravel runoff, and in general people along the road. Super fun... not 337 fun, but nice enough. Far too many people cross the double yellows on the 20 curves on LCR. Meh.

... I live in Austin - the side parties (free parties) for SXSW is a much better location and situation than ACL festival, IMHO. If you want to come here for a lawn-based festival FFF Fest is much better than ACL.
