Serious question: who in the world is NOT watching football on Sunday because they watched it on Thursday? How is that a justification for ratings decline?

I know I’m a geography nerd, but c’mon guys, that’s a really easy question for 3 Jeopardy players to miss. Tibet isn’t even a country!
I legitimately started laughing when I saw those 2nd and 3rd videos. In the 2nd one, that ball is about at its apex when he starts moving and he gets to it before it’s 3/4 of the way to the ground. The 3rd... around the net... it’s just absurd. As great as Federer is, Nadal is my all-time favorite for shots like that.
I really think people outside of this fanbase have a twisted idea of the % of Penn State fans who actually feel the way you’re describing. If I were to go around the tailgate lot this weekend and asked how many people wanted the statue to go back up, I’d find very, VERY few people who’d say yes.
You really need to take this less personally. You know what you’ll find if you go to a Penn State game? The exact same people, atmosphere and love for football as any other place in the country. Barely anyone talks about Joe Paterno anymore, and most of us realize just how wrong he was in not doing everything possible…
*Noel is a victim of the restricted free agent system and he/his agent screwed up*
I missed one around Donegal heading out there for Memorial Day - doing 85 with no other cars around me and that sucker had a spot carved out of the hill. I never stood a chance.
Same - I’ve had to do the Philly-Pittsburgh drive a few times in the last year, and it’s 4.5-5 hours depending on traffic. Average between 75-80 mph on the turnpike (more if you’re following a faster car) and you’re set.
Casual golf yes, but not competitive golf.
It’s absolutely golf. A competitive round of golf is usually 5 hours, with 99.9% of that being downtime where all you have are your thoughts. Add in spectators 10 yards from where you’re aiming, tv cameras, and all the randomness of the game itself, it’s maddening. Watch any major and see the best in the world…
BREAKING: Deadspin thinks rich people are bad
Embiid: had better stats, was the better player, showed signs of being a generational talent, was the only logical answer to “who was the best rookie this year”
It’s also just a big expanse of parking lots. Here you had the statue, the skyline of Philly in the background, and it was easy walking distance for a huge percent of the city. It was awesome (a big inconvenience to some, sure, but 100% awesome)
What evidence is there that this juror cares at all about Penn State? Wouldn’t a connection to PSU or a pro-PSU bias disqualify him?
Yeah some of the players drafted later turned out to be better players, but the entire theory is that no one can possibly know with any certainty whether their pick is the best value, and so the best way to guarantee success is to have as many as possible. For all the “Well, this guy got taken 5 picks later!”…
The worst kind of take is “Thing that lots of people like actually sucks because x is better.” Also known as the Snob Take. See beer, pizza, music, soccer, and a million other things. God dammit, let me enjoy a few Chainsmokers songs and some Domino’s pizza in peace.
Not that anything involving the 2 scandals can ever be called “less horrible” but I think Baylor deserves the death penalty much more than PSU. Baylor had players, coaches, administrators, compliance people, etc. all involved. At PSU, it was really only a few school admins (and one member of the football staff) who…
Counterpoint: The anti-Patriots whining and celebrating, especially last night on Twitter when the Falcons were winning, is more annoying. I don’t know many Boston sports fans, but I do know a lot of people who are really salty that some other team wins a lot (and I’m an Eagles fan, so you know I’d do unspeakable…
But Penn State has the head-to-head win and would have a conference championship, two of the factors that the committee weighs pretty heavily. I think Wisconsin is in too if they win the B1G title game. Ohio State should be nervous since they didn’t win their conference.
Can confirm a number of people doing this. And Pitt’s AD said that Penn State fans had nothing to do with the record number of season tickets sold (riiiiiiiight)
