the thing is even if they put it on steam they would have some sort of third party DRM even if it wasn't origion.

another ff7 spinoff, another round of cries for a remake.

personally I've boycotted all ea and ubisoft games, and yelled at valve for not explicitly stating that flashback required uplay. I do not play valve titles, I boycotted gfwl while it was running, and while I have a steam account, I buy from gog or similar then register whenever possible.

the issue is not ea saying "me too" but ea saying "me only" - holding all their games hostage to force me to install a client I do not want.

yes, competition is wonderful - it allows me to support the company that is the most DRM/proprietary free.

if it requires origion, its not free. That, right there, is a cost I am unwilling to pay.

ahh RPG's and religion.

Originally that was the promise of dust. They never followed through. The interaction between the two, despite the overwhelming potential, is the eve player sits back and does nothing for 20 mins then might get to left click. Its the most boring mechanic in the mmo known for its boring mechanics. And the benefit for

Ahh CCP.

You seem to be misunderstanding my point. I am saying that your claim it was only played by a very few people due to it only being on a few arcade machines was factually incorrect, as it was ported to most platforms of the day.

I'm supposed to pull numbers to prove a statement I made about an assumption of numbers that *you* made? Yeesh.

i remember playing it on the Amiga, it wasn't just on arcades. I'm sure there were limitations on the port, but its likely more widespread than your making it out to be.

The continuing popularity of ffxi over ffxiv is testimant that many people prefer a bad game that's challenging than a good game that is too easy.

Personally I love divide et imperia mod. Makes the game for me, although a few of the changes arnt perfect (first mod I've ever looked for a mod to change (unit names)) after playing it for a couple campaigns I reloaded shogun 2 and tried that again.

I bought the game at launch and like many was dissapointed.
Recently I picked it up again (patch 9) and found it significantly improved - although certain balance issues are still a big downer (I'm looking at you Sparta unit caps, and suebi just being arverni but worse).
I of course started looking at mods to fix these

Having recently quit eve after nearly a decade, Im want to say that (IMO) unfortunatly these large battles that are not fun for anyone involved is all that's left of this once great game.

Ahh CCP. Doing everything other than improving eve online itself since 2009.

My vote has to go here to, I've had mine for over a year and think it's some of the best money I've ever spent. Many thousands of gaming hours and aside from a couple cleanings no issues. The customizability is spectacular, and I abuse the variable cursor speed buttons all the time.
