Ah thanks for this! Down-converting is looking like a very likely possibility. Each of my blu-rays come in at about 10-15GB each as they're usually projected onto my 1080p projector. Now that it will be a smaller screen (laptop), I plan on possibly down-converting all the films to 3-7GB and using portable drives.

Agreed, I was going to mention this. It's so easy. Takes mere seconds to do too.

Whilst I haven't used Plex in a year so, I can't imagine it offering a better skin than Aeon MQ 4 in XBMC. It's perfect. Though all this talk about streaming my footage sounds amazing, how in gods name has XBMC not achieved this functionality?

I don't think I'll really have any internet access. It'll be pretty non-existent and I've been told its comparable to dial up but regardless, thanks for the suggestion.

I'd thoroughly recommend a projector for your HTPC setup. Considering what they can do, they are bargains. Getting 100" of sharp 1080p for less than a £/$1000? Yes please!

It changes the experience of a film IMO. Only drawback is you need light control to the room. They're dependent on dark areas that's for sure.

I have a question for the Lifehacker community. I'm soon to be shipping off with P&O international cruises as an onboard photographer, my internet will be pretty much non-existent and I can only carry the bare essentials. This means, yep you guessed it, my entire HTPC system has to stay at home.

So how can I mobilise

I recently discovered this feature after having a HTPC system for a good 2 years now. I've always been a lover of technology, but never a true knower. For this reason I never knew how to do it, despite researching. UPnP is beautiful. I literally just enabled it on my HTPC and installed XBMC onto my mac, boom, it's all

Nazi zombies were real too, it's not a joking matter.

I could not disagree more. I understand your point, but to go to such a degree and say no self-respecting DSLR user would ever use this is ridiculous. HDR is done in moderation, very soft moderation mind you. Just because you see over saturated, halo filled, noisy HDR images all over the web doesn't mean that's how it

When you write 'LOL' in capitals, you lose all credibility. Food for thought.

Yep, you're attempting logic with a troll.

hold up... are you trying to tell me that a tech writer is reading technology blogs? Woah.

Huh? You just called the writer, 'a standard user' and then proceeded to say his needs aren't shared by anyone? You realise that's a blatant contradiction right?

Yep, expected as much. Because I use a mac, my opinion is completely useless. Thanks for giving me the piece of mind to know that you base your opinions on mere social stereotypes.

I like your pair.

An asshole? He only responded to assholes in the same manner they addressed him.

Will you grow a pair? Diaz is one of the few writers that respond to the stupidity of this community, with cold and blunt hard truths. I've noticed he's been muzzled more so recently because of the childish girls who can't handle the banter that they themselves initially put out.

I'm British, so those rights are imaginary.
