It even predated the things we normally associate with steam: tractors, ships, and trains. There were some earlier designs (one from daVinci) but no proof any were built.

Cugnot's fardier à vapeur from 1769, proving FWD was a bad idea from the start. It is often considered the first self propelled vehicle and of course it had the first accident too. I suspect understeer and torque-steer were factors.

Ignoring my cheeky Morgan comment, I've never driven a car more front-heavy than a 2001 Chevrolet Impala with the 3.7L V6. Terrible, terrible thing. (Photo doesn't do it justice, but the whole engine is really in front of the front axle.)

A 911 when it's facing the wrong way, so 99% of the time it's the 911.

You mean Lucas electronics are unreliable? in other news, the ocean is still wet.

British Car = Electrical Fire.

How the hell is it that half of all machinery built in the UK is subject to electrical failure? Seriously? Does it have to do with the rain?

This must have just happened. I saw this car on Monday on the University of Washington campus. (Sorry for blurry & rotated pic quality it was quickly snapped on a cellphone). It wasn't spray painted at the time. I actually feel bad for the owners, they seemed nice and let me snap the pic really quickly.

put this front bumper on and i will agree.

Agreed. All of the 991s definitely overdid it with the badging. Both the Porsche badge and the 911 badge are unnecessary.

They should have a required endorsement that needs extra training and testing to legally drive a truck/full-size van/SUV. Make it require separate testing after the standard license is given. Anything sold as a truck or light duty vehicle should be in there as well that includes the CAFE skirting crossovers as well.

Actually our engineers are saying this.

And if Ralph Nader hadn't made such a mess of things later in his career (crunchy Green Party activists, just STFU), this would have been his legacy.

We don't have improved roads over here, we have crumbling roads as we spend billions on terrorism. Nevermind that the death toll on our roads is 10 times the worst terrorist attack in our nations history.

The quality of driving was largely the same. Perhaps even worse since DUI was socially acceptable.

How many times are you going to repost the same misleading statistic? Of course crashes were more frequent, and more frequently fatal, because cars were much worse back then. That says nothing about the quality of driving.

Duck and cover?

any state that gets highway funding should be REQUIRED to have all interstates have a 70 minimum limit in all places. If they can't do it, rebuild or lose funding.

Holy shit you're a fucking retard.

Not sure if trolling or a total fucking asshole who I want to kill...
