It would need to be approximately 57.852 x better than the old car to even be remotely decent.

I owned 2 different 99 Dakota RT’s. They were fun trucks that back in their day, were pretty quick. Especially with a little work. The last one I owned had heads, cam, and full bolt-ons, and it was a quick little truck. And it would lay rubber anywhere, anytime. I miss the hell out of that thing. My parents also owned…
The best car I’ve ever driven was the 991.1 RS. That car was just totally immersive and spellbinding. Everything about it just felt honed to the nth degree. For them to have improvement from there to hear.....this has to be a truly spectacular machine.
I’ve flogged the hell out of them on some outstanding roads. It’s good, but still falls some way short of ‘magical’ imo.
Different strokes and all that. I adore the TT RS, but not much a fan of the ATS-V beyond it’s brilliant chassis tuning.
I’m not a huge Miata guy either, but I’ve enjoyed the NA and NB’s especially, that I’ve driven more than the S2K. Those cars have the delicate balance and live wire feel that is lacking in the Honda.
Oh goodness, I would like one of these so terribly, tremendously badly.
Not terrible, but like the current Toyobaru twins, certainly far from wowing. I’ve always thought S2000's were overrated. Every time I drive one I think maybe the cars in between will have changed my perspective and allow me to have that ‘aha’ moment. Never happens.
I’ll be crucified for this, but oh well, here goes-
Neutral-
I once had an opportunity to buy one of these. A black 2000 one w/ 94K miles was traded into my local Ford dealer. It needed a little TLC, but nothing major. And it was only $5,900. I still kick myself for not buying it. It was so lovely to drive. I’m not a Honda guy by any means, but I adore these cars. I’ve driven…
On a related note, I’ve been driving a Flying Spur W12 S the last few days, and I love the car. Such an unbelievable sense of solidity and refinement. Amazing how such a powerful car can be so comforting and soothing. Also, though I have driven cars much faster, it by far has the most effortless acceleration of any…
Once you get going, it really becomes almost an afterthought. It almost kinda makes sense when you think about it, because you’re rarely in 1st gear. 2-4th is where all the good stuff happens in that car, and the gearing is tight enough that when paired to the torquey V12, you can easily take off in 2nd anyway.
Be right back, going to CA to get an $800 payment on a GT4. That’s only 2x my GTI payment!! :)
I drove a 2017 Vantage V12 S w/ the 7MT dogleg, and it was epic beyond belief. The most memorable car I’ve ever driven. Phenomenal sound, addictive involvement, ripping power, a sublimely neutral chassis, delicious hydraulic steering, and THAT MANUAL. It was like driving a bigger, heavier, much more powerful Miata.…
Major Porsche fan here, and as someone who has driven nearly every iteration of 991 and previous Vantages, as well as the engine donor for this car- AMG GTS- I don’t even need to drive this car to tell you I’d buy one over any 911 short of a GT3.
Drives a Solstice, rips on GTI.......interesting.
It’s a fun car. I enjoyed driving it. Did not come close to making me yearn for driving it again 6 months, or even 6 days, later.
The current car is actually quite nice, and more than decent to drive. It’s a better car than the Taurus, Impala, Maxima, and V6 Charger/300, and I’m not even kidding.
I had this vehicle sans the KDSS in a 2014 MY, and I miss the holy hell out of it. I had a 3" lift on it and 33" Wrangler Duratracs, and it was a beast off road. Rocks, sand, mud, hills, ditches, creeks.....nothing posed an issue.
