Major Porsche fan here, and as someone who has driven nearly every iteration of 991 and previous Vantages, as well as the engine donor for this car- AMG GTS- I don’t even need to drive this car to tell you I’d buy one over any 911 short of a GT3.

It’s a fun car. I enjoyed driving it. Did not come close to making me yearn for driving it again 6 months, or even 6 days, later.

The current car is actually quite nice, and more than decent to drive. It’s a better car than the Taurus, Impala, Maxima, and V6 Charger/300, and I’m not even kidding.

I had this vehicle sans the KDSS in a 2014 MY, and I miss the holy hell out of it. I had a 3" lift on it and 33" Wrangler Duratracs, and it was a beast off road. Rocks, sand, mud, hills, ditches, creeks.....nothing posed an issue.

Dang. Terrible loss. These guys have an amazing, but incredibly demanding job. From a fellow USAF veteran, rest easy brother.

They really are quite bad vehicles. I cannot possibly fathom how anyone would choose to buy one.

Yeah, a GTI would difficult to live with a rear-facing child seat or as a primary family vehicle. Both of my kids are just in boosters, so I can get away with it.

I can understand the power issue, though if you move to the Alltrack, you not only get AWD, but the DSG in place of the 6AT. Though it still makes do with the same power level, the DSG brings a newfound urgency to the acceleration, especially in ‘Sport’ or ‘Manual’ mode. In fact, it’s so improved I’m seriously…
