I Agree with the two assholes part. But one chant is rooted in thousands of years of violent oppression and genocide, especially by the very institution, the Catholic church, to which those chanters belong, if not as parishioners at least as students, so you’ll pardon me if I find their chant more problematic.

It was not my intent to say that the church still taught that the Jews killed Jesus. I meant that the Catholic church teaches about the HISTORY of how “the Jews killed Jesus” has been used as the foundation for a lot of violent anti-semitism, including by the Catholic church. If I insinuated otherwise, I apologize.

Yes, I can be that stupid. Or maybe just out of touch. Explain it to me.

Why? All sausage fest means is something filled with all men. I can see it being transphobic, because there may be some male identifying students at the school who don’t have sausages, and there may be some sausage owners who identify female.

The comma is less a grammatical correction than in how it sounded when chanted.

That would be “you killed, Jesus.” I would need to hear the audio and get a gander at the other team’s roster. But it’s absolutely possible.

The ignorance of history in this comment thread is staggering, isn’t it?

And it’s inarguably fact that the all male school is a sausage fest. Not sure if that justifies anyone to do anything, but wanted it on the record.

So do you think:

That the jews supposedly killed Jesus as been the justification for some nasty atrocities throughout history by Christians. Whether that taunt still holds the same anti-semitic baggage is another story. I don’t know, but as recently as 2004 Mel Gibson, a known anti-semite, certainly played up this trope in his

Well, “You killed Jesus” is HISTORICALLY anti-Semitic. That is it has been used to justify all kinds of pogroms and atrocities in the past. It would be interesting to discuss when a historically racist remark loses it’s hate-speech association.

“Sausage fest” is homophobic? I thought it was what you labelled parties that had all men and no women and were therefore not worth the time. The implication would be that the party goers, the owners of the aforementioned sausages, were heterosexual because the lack of women is a bad thing. A gay sausage fest would be

That’s true once the general rolls around. But those 18 year-olds will be voting anyway, as I understand it. This changes nothing on that score. This decision only counts for the primaries which gives Bernie an edge over Clinton he would not have otherwise had. I have no idea how this will effect the Republican

It does seem like an important detail to leave out.

I don’t understand...

That’s such bullshit. I also was told not to speak ill of the recently departed, but even me in my little world with no team to vet my every public appearance knows that not saying bad things does not equal making positive shit up about the dead. When my wife beating, deadbeat of a thief of a grandfather died, I

I may be open to convincing on who is at fault, but “instigate” means STARTING something, not “not helping.” If you accuse someone of instigating something you are accusing them of starting it. Not continuing it. Not finishing it. STARTING it. That’s what the word means. Really.

The problem is you used the word “instigator,” which by definition means that you think brake check Charlie STARTED the confrontation. (That’s what “instigate” means. Seriously look it up) Which is bullshit. Tailgate Tony instigated EVERYTHING.* Charlie responded poorly. He responded dangerously. He was wrong. But he
