Doesn’t the recent ruling by the NLRB that McDonald’s is a joint employer with franchisee’s precisely because they exercise so much control over the franchises, including employment issues, run counter to what you claim your family member claims? I am not claiming either McDonalds or the NFL explicitly ordered or

Maybe they subscribe to that old adage, “eatin’ ain’t cheatin’”

Now that would be a grand reunion. Find one of the (WAY TOO) many homeless vets, have them sit down next to some long lost family member at a sporting event and watch the family member squirm, not recognizing them. Then have the homeless vet removed by security, taken to an in-stadium salon (are their any stadiums

Indeed. My grandfather fought in WWII and earned several medals. He did heroic things. He also beat my grandmother and stole the money my father had saved to go to college. So I have a hard time labeling the man, opposed to some of his deeds, a hero.

Don’t forget Dwight Schultz of A-Team fame. Neither of those were journalism majors either. (Actually Towson has an excellent arts program in theater and music, especially jazz.) I think UMBC is best known for Duff, Kathleen Turner and a bunch of chess Grand Masters.

I agree that is the more likely scenario. As an aside, I went to their employment website because I was really curious whether their interns are paid or not. (Actually, I was pretty sure of the answer to that, but was willing to be surprised). While it does not specifically say their internships are unpaid, A) They

What I like about this image is that it captures the Natty Boh love perfectly. It’s not about enjoying a hometown beer, because A) no one enjoys Natty Boh. You drink it because it’s cheap and b) it hasn’t been brewed in Baltimore in decades.* No, it’s all about the logo and the gear and the IDEA that it once was a

And was she expecting a Ravens’ themed “Who’s on first” skit? Of course a guy in a Baltimore bar sporting a Flacco jersey would take that and try to run to douchetown with it. I mean, the guy is the humorless lump you call him, but what was she expecting?

The only problem I have this comment is that there are in fact several Maryland accents. What you are referring to is the Western Shore accent. It’s different than the Eastern Shore and Western Maryland accents. The former is more white trash southern and the latter are all the worst parts of Pittsburgh and West

1st and 2nd in your class in sports journalism at Towson and you think your careers were full of promise?? At least as a mediocre history major at UMBC you can become a briefly famous cake baker.

Here’s my 2 bit supposition with no evidence. They don’t get money. The get some sort of debit card that can only be used on campus or at approved places in town. Then all they have to do is subtract the money electronically.

I’d be interested, but not so interested as to actually look it up, how much this douchecanoe gets if he does such an awful job he gets fired. Will Muschamp at UF got over $6 million. FOR BEING BAD AT HIS JOB!

So his parents intentionally gave him a 2 shitty beer name? What’s his middle name? Moosehead?

Actually I came here for a more explicit “bending the elbow too much” joke, but I’ll take this.

I am, too. I am also looking forward to him in The Martian, although how they justify him playing an Indian guy named Venkat Kapoor is beyond me.

You should have seen the original version it had “Team white religious guy played by Sgt Gartrear’s Son”

What depresses me most about the addition of the third character (Caleb) and turning this into a love triangle story is that in the original story the young girl, a teenager actually, was as strong and as fully developed as the scientist. More even. They were equals circling each other warily in an extreme situation.

Or two straight men and a gay woman!

Yeah. It’s loosely based at best.

There was no third character. They must have added it so there would be romantic, and because of casting Ejiofor, racial tension. (You can almost see the Tweens now “Team Black Scientist” versus “Team white religious guy.”) I haven’t seen the movie, but I loved the book and I’m really disappointed. But this new take
