Remember y2k? and on January 1st when everyone was like, 'oh yeah, you don't count a year 0, so really 2001 is the end, then 2001 came and went? Buckle in cause we've got at least two more doctors to go through before people stop bringing up the arbitrary 12 regenerations rule.

So I noticed on Netflix there's a Doctor Who spin-off show called Torchwood, is it just a cheap cash grab or is this show worth watching?

I always refer to them by their actor's last name, personally. Read somewhere, probably on io9, that John Hurt was the "War Doctor", if that makes a difference. I'm about four episodes away from catching up, but I like the idea that there was a Doctor running around in between McGann and Eccleston.

Lisa Frank was just overcompensating. There's something warped about a generation of kids being excited about stickers anyway.

No problem, my skillset is in 3d, but I'm not the least bit bias because I was initially inspired by 2d so I always take a strong 'in the middle' stance any time anyone tries to buildup 2d over 3d, or vice versa (not saying you were doing that, by the way). It's cool to find one process more aesthetically appealing

Seeing as how I have some friends in the VFX business I have to argue with your 'icing on the cake' comment. Especially considering the majority of big budget action/sci fi movies, like Iron Man, have large chunks of their movies that are entirely CG, and arguably couldn't be what they are without the visual effects.

I'm both a parent and a person working in the animation industry, outside of kid friendly 'family' movies and shows all that's left is video games and advertising. So yeah, it's a sorry state. but traditional animation was always like that too, minus a few weird years in the 70's.

It'd work the same as whitey's zombie movie except the protagonist would be a tough, likely kung-fu expert, black man who would make racial one-liner quips before blasting away the cracker zombie hordes. And instead of it being a Romero inspired satire about white culture invading and assimilating black culture into

Look to the French. There seems to be a healthy mix of both 2d and 3d coming out of there. Specifically from their schools, search Gobelins.

It's cheaper to produce, gives your artists more options, easier to change, easier to control, takes less time, quicker to pre-vis, yields better results generally, allows for stereoscopic, and doesn't waste resources (paper and cels) or require an ink and paint team or a capturing process. Not to mention draws a

It all really depends on what you're doing in the shot, naturally. Even the simplest of shots (one character with a simple background, for instance) could have longer render times depending on the lighting or if they're rendering motion blur, or depth of field in camera instead of in post. A complex scene with

Disney mastered cel animation a few years before the Japanese. Not that I don't love stoic faces with lips that flap, or 10 minutes of limited animation followed by 1 minute of realistic animation followed by 10 more minutes of limited, or 5 episode fight sequences that feature banter and taunting for 4, I just think

The quality of the car doesn't make a good driver, doesn't mean they shouldn't make better cars.

Cause it was about as bad as Jurassic Paint

Grandpa Romero seems to have a case of the 'back-in-my-day's

Jurassic Sunshine is all right, but it's not as good as Jurassic 64. of course Jurassic World was the best one

One would think Joseph Gordon Levitt cause he's always the very first in the rumor mill for any role whatsoever, but I'll bet Vin Disel's viral campaign will get him the job.

To be fair, it's the Doctor is saying it and he's timeless. He also has a love affair with Earth in general so why not use old lingo. What bothers me more is that the alien lady calls it a "ship" and says to step away from the "wheel". Both dating back to 1800's sea travel.

Also, I own a breadbox. It's metal and about 40+ years old so they're not that outdated.
