Doesn’t everyone do this? In fact, I usually have a tied bag somewhere that’s full of “fridge till collection day” detritus. It’s also “open the containers and sniff” day, with any bad stuff going into the trash bag that should be full enough to absorb any liquid, and containers being tossed into the sink to be…
Outside of making me aware of something called Health Sharing Ministries - yeah this article is really uninformative as to what they are and a vague reason state attorneys might be looking into them.
There were basically two options. One was letting the free market do its work — basically every movie theater would have gone out of business, but we would have had an extensive national infrastructure of boarded-up movie theaters. After the pandemic, someone would have purchased those theaters for pennies on the…
They should make a Snoopy cornballer.
This is a pretty basic rundown. I would’ve at least mentioned other backup solutions that include backing up to local storage (home PC or NAS) as some folks don’t like/trust storing stuff in internet accessible servers and/or are already backing up their PC up with an external hard drive and/or internet-based storage.…
Who is this article intended for? I’m curious. This is still a tech blog, yes? I’ve been visiting Gizmodo now for quite some time, at least a decade I think, and all the various Gawker Media sites. But Gizmodo was at one point a tech blog as far as I could tell. Articles were written for the tech savvy, by other tech…

How about you eat my ass AV Club?
Did Gizmodo get rid of slideshows? Because I totally clicked on this just to complain about slideshows.
Same here re: finding trainers boring. I put lots of hours in on the trainer in the wintertime, probably a couple hundred, but it never gets more exciting. I’ll switch it up between doing Peloton rides (minus the shite form) and riding while watching a movie on my tablet. That’s about the only way I can manage that…
The Peloton commercials always crack me up.... all those people with questionable form, spinning so fast they are bouncing on the saddle.
Spinervals! Now that’s a word I haven’t heard in 20 years…
Cyclist here who logs hundreds of hours every winter on her trainer setup in the basement. There’s so much more that goes into this that the video and post could have touched on. Some thoughts on this video and on cycling with a trainer in general:
When I was doing consulting in the early 00's - one of the more interesting jobs was for a client who was a competitive cyclist and who asked me to install a link between his indoor trainer-bike to a laptop and output to a CRT (was like a slower early USB and an S Video breakout box at the time).
Just FYI, the bike already has a “water bottle holder” on it. Not all bikes do but I gotta think most do (including the one in the video).
Why do I need to click to read the rest of a sentence I’m already reading?
My anecdotal word of caution: if your prescription corrects for astigmatism, you might not get a working pair of glasses. I ordered from GlassesUSA with a brand new prescription and received a pair of glasses that I couldn’t wear for more than 3 seconds without nausea. When I contacted them about it, they basically…
