I guess so... My dad just stopped when he found out my mom was pregnant with me. He had been smoking about two packs a day at that time for a couple of years. Hasn't touched one since, according to him.

Don't know if you're looking for advice but my best friend stopped smoking by licking lollipops throughout the day. It's something to keep your mouth and hands busy and I guess the sugar helps a bit. He did that for, I don't know for sure, maybe two weeks and hasn't smoked since.
