No, the garbage we pump into the atmosphere and oceans is not natural. It's artificial, which by definition means made by us. Climate change denial is dumb enough- showing you deny it because of politics is just spectacularly dumb.

You used the wrong YOUR. ;-)

We won't know if we wind up reincarnated as marshmallow peeps, but there's just as little reason to believe that as there is of any other kind of life after death. It's not absence of proof, it's absence of anything.

There's no reason to believe in a soul or everlasting consciousness, besides our wanting to believe it. Just last night I was wishing I could believe that I would spend eternity in heaven with my mother and (eventually) my children, but there is absolutely no evidence of ghosts or consciousness that exists outside of

That is freaking ridiculously awesome. How can you not just wear that to work every day?

The Chituri are such generic movie CGI creatures. They could be from so many other movies or video games. I can't believe anyone would pay so much more a (very well made) figure of such uninteresting, inconsequential villains.

Absolutely no contradiction. A fun story is not necessarily good science fiction. But thanks for adding to the discussion.

Wow- I had no idea. Thanks!

Generally speaking, I do not find thin women attractive. Nothing wrong with them, it's just my personal preference. To me, curves seem more soft, sexy, and feminine. They feel great, and can fill out a dress spectacularly. And that's what I've loved before and after the internet.

I've loved an alien for over 40 years. I wouldn't be the person I am without him.

Now playing

I've always loved Martin Mull. The mainstream was not cool enough for him.

Yes, the results are binary. My point is, either one thing is true, or the other is. Either a parallel universe is exactly like ours, or completely different, for reasons I already explained very clearly.

I won't deny it.

No, we are not making the same point. If there was a copy of you, it would not be you. It doesn't matter how perfect it is, it will never be you.

I did not ignore your point. A copy of an atom is not the original atom. It could be the same in every way, but it simply isn't the original.

That is utterly ridiculous. And it is MOST wrong in this particular case.

I've had this discussion on io9 so many times, and everyone gives the same arguments.

But it's a simulation- a copy. It won't be the original person.

Yeah, old article. I always wonder how people occasionally come upon these articles that pop up out of the past when they comment on them.

I guess I should hope it was the boobs, since they're a lot more natural, positive and pleasant than violent brain sucking.
