I haven’t seen miscasting like this since the last time they cast the role of Parker. That would be Jason Statham, the movie itself was okay if you had no idea what the source material was but a short English guy is not even close to Parker. I’ve been begging for a few years that one of the streaming services take a

I don’t have a good feeling about this. I’d feel better is they were doing the Dortmunder series (Downey would be a good Andy Kelp), but Parker, I don’t see it. Parker is a serious - deadly serious - character. No wise-cracking, no jokes. And intimidating as all hell. I don’t see Downey playing that character.

Not surprising they don’t want to honor the people who actually make a movie look the way it does but rather, cater to the actors playing in it. I just hope Amazon’s Cinderella now wins fan favorite as a sort of spite on them.

Wow, that was...rousing.

You’d think they’d make an effort to write above a third-grade level for a fucking OBITUARY

About time!

Hey, Willie! I’m gonna eat Mrs Ochmonek’s cat!

On the Comedy Central special, watching what happened after he “snorted” the huge jug of powder was one of the best, longest laughs I ever had.

I also stumbled on him from Comedy Central when they did those things. I loved it.

I was a *huge* fan of The Amazing Johnathan. Sad that he’s gone, glad that he isn’t in pain anymore. Truly phenomenal talent.

Blah. The world’s an emptier place.

If you can, look at the extra features of “The Imposters”, and you’ll see him tell the best fuzzy dog joke of all time. He billed it as the joke that you can use to tell whether someone has a sense of humor or not, and his delivery is absolutely impeccable.

He was a great entertainer and was very entertaining. RIP Jonathan. We all loved you.

One of the legends from my youth who really helped form my taste for comedy. A true legend, didn’t know about the later years and meth stuff, but now I have some stuff to watch.
Bummer news.

There was something about prop/magic comedians in the 1980s that kept them from being annoying. The Amazing Jonathan, Harry Anderson, Joel Hodgson, Penn & Teller, and others were so good combining subversive comedy with inventions, cons and geek pranks that the gimmicks never seemed like gimmicks.

Do you think some of Robert’s friends still get him to look down these days? I hope so.

Now playing

I enjoyed the heck out of his documentary and absolutely nobody I showed it to did, haha. It did also end with one of my favorite songs ever, so it’s got that going for it...which is nice.

As the end result of a chain of events that I don’t quite recall, I picked Jonathan up from the Columbia, SC airport for a week of gigs in early 1990. During that twenty minute ride, he shared a very non-funny cautionary tale of bad decisions and chemical dependency. I have no idea why he did it, but that experience

“Don’t feels sorry for me” - AV Club’s disdain for proofreading extends even to dying people’s words.

Give me an angry fist! No, no, that’s a happy fist...
