73 and later had smog control issues... 71 and earlier did not, and 72 just had bad carbs. I also don’t think an LS is lighter then an l24 or l28 block. In fact a full dress L28 with exhaust manifolds and everything else is 420, the ls7 without intake or exhaust is 425...

I’m with you... use a later s30 shell, not a 240... believe it or not the 71 240's where the fastest z’s up untill the Twin turbo 300 due to increasing weight and smog restrictions.

This build would look identical on a 280 body shell... Then again CA smog laws would make it hard on a 75 or later... so you use a 74…

RE i6 NSX It would not have fit, oddly while transverse mount, the same basic block was longitudinally mounted in the FWD 2nd Gen legend.  Both are somewhat surprising.  I AM NOT SAYING ITS THE SAME ENGINE.. but they are very very closely related.

GM did it over a decade ago too in 2005. No one purchased it. I knew someone with one that drove in traffic and did alot of short city trips...  huge gains in MPG as it recovered so much proportionally in the frequent stops to offset the frequent acceleration periods.
