Trying to put myself in the mindset of a person making those arguments is an exercise I won’t be repeating. Apart from ... well, everything you said so adeptly, is it not creepy that players’ defense of the masks revolves around the agency and character of a serial killer?

I’m glad that I ended up not going into the industry, for the very same reasons you mention. I had enough trouble keeping my passion for sw engineering alive amidst the many -isms in my industry, much less dealing with this kind of chud.
