Trying to put myself in the mindset of a person making those arguments is an exercise I won’t be repeating. Apart from ... well, everything you said so adeptly, is it not creepy that players’ defense of the masks revolves around the agency and character of a serial killer?

I grew up idolizing Olajuwon (best center ever, fight me), but by the time I got to play juco ball Francis was our star. Not only is it admirable that he would open up like this, I’m glad he’s in a better place mentally.

I’m glad your parents were able to provide that for you. That’s not in any way relevant to this conversation. I and the majority of others in my generation were raised with the certainty that choosing to go to college guaranteed us financial stability and income potential.
