Nice!
The SpaceX launch pad issue falls under penny-wise, but pound-foolish, so cost was an issue, yeah. My understanding is that Musk wanted to lower upfront costs to get to space as quickly as possible, and that was (mostly, but not entirely) fine for less powerful boosters. Getting to Mars with a crew requires a lot more…
Yeah, he just means that he’ll be involved in steering development towards his ‘everything app’ (X), and only in very, very broad strokes. SysOps isn’t really a thing at Twitter either.
It’s way overdue.
I feel it’s more about leverage. No need to bargain in good faith when everything is opaque. Much easier to pretend there’s no money to go around.
You only really realize the extent to which your political system operates due to convention when someone decides to throw it all out the window.
You’re partly right. Gaming’s so shit because of the chasm that exists between senior devs and juniors/QA/DevTest. It extends to compensation, benefits and working conditions.
Yeah, without syndication, and with growth being seen as an end in itself, the whole revenue model is different. That doesn’t mean that they have to treat writers as gig workers though, or that WGA members shouldn’t be entitled to additional compensation when their work drives subscriptions/revenue.
Given her background, I assume that she’ll be there to mend fences with advertisers, and to rebuild the communications department. Replying to all inquiries with a poop emoji can only last for so long.
He doesn’t always listen there either. The SpaceX and Tesla people are just better at handling him as a boy king. They tend to gently steer him in the right direction, but he still makes idiotic calls once in a while.
Heh, “sysops...” He means DevOps. Tell me you haven’t coded since the advent of cloud computing without telling me you haven’t coded since the advent of cloud computing.
Best summary of the stakes I’ve read so far: Ivy League MBA tech bros ruin everything.
Bah, if this isn’t worthy of a repost, nothing is. CliffsNotes: game recognize game, and Kate Bush defies genres.

Our politics really hold us back in that regard. Our siege mentality is so prevalent that we keep electing incompetent knobs, provided their electoral campaign is centered around nationalism.
Come for the shawarma, stay for the pubs. Fun sold separately.
Kickass. I’d completely forgotten that he’d played a such huge role in The Infinity War.
Exactly. My elderly mom’s the ‘assimilate or perish’ type, and she doesn’t get how ironic that is. Doesn’t matter how many times I point out that if that policy had been successfully enacted against us, we’d be long gone. (And to be fair, there were numerous attempts.)
We’re not quite ready to reckon with our past (or present) yet. Our siege mentality reigns supreme, and people here reflexively categorize all forms of criticism as bigotry. Thing is, acknowledging our faults in no way excuses that of others! This is about us.
