Its a huge issue in Houston, they are pretty easy to spot as either expired or there is so much tape on the back of the car, that its clear the temp plate has been taped on 15 different times. HPD doesn’t do anything, some of the smaller departments will enforce it, but that is few and far between.
It would be in TX’s…
GM and their DOD/DFM on V8 vehicles. I purchased HP tuners just to disable it. If proper maintenance is not done, the lifters stay collapsed causing a misfire. The newest generation of trucks the ECMs are so locked down you can’t tune it out yet.
Similar to the AUDI mentioned, Jeep has a function where if the driver’s…
Best: Was looking for a new 2018 GMC Sierra in the summer of 2018, found one 2 states away that I was going to fly up and buy, it was 10k or so off sticker. Ended up finding one locally, but with more options and internet price was $6k more than the one a few states away. On the off chance they would do better, I…
I remember seeing these things lightly camouflaged testing around Vegas one trip, thought they were odd then and now.
My 4th vehicle was a 2001 Silverado with 70K miles, I purchased it as the first cars I had we’re not easy to work on. The first major project I did was long tube headers, somehow I managed to not only not break the bolts going from the manifolds to the rest of the exhaust, but all the header bolts came out of the…
Thought of another.
Aunt and uncle were road tripping from Oklahoma to Maine, their 2011 Escalade developed a misfire around Erie, PA. They drop the car off at the local Cadillac dealer, being labor day weekend, they had someone tow their trailer to the local RV Park. Long story short, the local dealer did a parts…
Early 2000's, at 16/17 I had my first truck, 5 year old F150 with 160K+ miles, I had one of those lifetime alignment things at the local brake place. Went in one day and was told the truck needed $500 in tie rods, ball joints, and etc to properly align the truck. I told them I couldn’t afford that and left.
Luckily I…
As a reoccurring GM customer, quite a good one at that, if I could sit in a meeting room with every manager and executive that thought this was a good idea, I’d tell them to go take a long walk off a short pier into boiling acid.
I’m sure onstar has its positives, but each year the dealer makes me talk to the Onstar…
Anything in the NE, PA, NY, NJ, and etc. People, narrow roads, and construction everywhere. As a Texan who usually road trips to NV, NM, CO, & CA, the family agreed heading to the NE was way worse than going west. Also Louisiana, i-10 specifically.
As others have said, front end is a bit much, but it looks good overall. ZR2 looks like a winner.
Texan here, got to say Nevada. I love California roads, but with a few exceptions there can be too many people. Nevada has some wonderful roads and in places you won’t see another car for an hour.
I’ve always wanted to “order” new cars, but until the pandemic, dealers really want to do it. I’d walk in with what I wanted to order and normally it would go;
Me: “Hi, I want to order this”
Dealer: “we have x on the lot.”
Me: “I don’t want X, making me pay for y & z options that I don’t want or will use”
Dealer: “If we…
Devil’s Advocate here.
I’ve purchased 2 vehicles that I’d never driven in the last 14 months, additionally I have a 3rd on order.
The first was a successor to a vehicle that had been on the market for 5 years and a new model was coming out. We had spent quite a bit of time in the old model and enjoyed it. We were…
Waited months for a new 21' escalade and finally got it in Nov 20', took it on one road trip and ended up deciding we didn’t really need one at the time. Sold it in May 21' wholesale with 3900 miles for $7500 more than I paid
Purchased a new 18' sierra in the summer of 18' as the 19's were rolling out. Sold it in April…
I’ll agree with you here, there is no easy punishment here.
I’m coming at this as a cyclist that fears for my life every time I get near a public road in the Houston area and try to stick to sidewalks and dirt as much as possible, that said sidewalks aren’t always safe either.
Making a decision as a teenager isn’t…
Not sure it counts, but seems to go hand in hand with luxury cars, anything that says “supreme” on it.
Completely agree, within engineering you have 3 options: Quality, speed (time to production), and cost; pick the two options you want. Yes Carbon fiber wheels have been out for a while, but what do they cost? I’m sure these won’t be cheap, carbon ceramic brakes are still $$$$, but far cheaper than they have been.
Reading over comments people talk about things not being collectable due to complexity to repair, death of gasoline, and etc. It misses what drives collectability more than anything else: Nostalgia.
Yes, electronics are getting more complex, and I own 2 - 20 year old trucks that aren’t nearly as complex as today, but…
Once again, Waller county in not friendly to cyclists and this is another case of that.
It is my understanding that the kid’s parents are “Business Owners” and no elected official wants to go after the kid and subsequently his parents. So they have kicked it to a Grand Jury, which once again that whole area is not…
