I think it should be shot into space IF the cable were to snap close to the ground, but if it snaps higher up there would be two pieces left: the upper one being shot into space and the lower one falling back to the ground.

I built a "lamp" using a 15Kohm resistor, a diode, and a very dim blue LED peeking from a common AC power plug, and keep it plugged in at all times (it draws less than 1mA) pointing from above to the wc.

I use my computer to play music when I am at the computer, so I don't need a remote. I think I'd use a web interface and my phone over wifi if I came to use a dedicated computer to play music.
