Had both. Liked both. The S2000 was a terrible urban car though so I preferred the Miata while living in the city. Now I’m in the burbs I’d love to have a S2000 again as I only had it a year.

Sound like my first Miata. White. Black and brushed aluminum German Borbet wheels and a post purchase black hardtop. Also had factory trunk luggage rack. Did several 1600 kilometre road trips with it each summer. Easily one of the best cars I ever owned.
Not that I’d say this out loud but... true.
Yeah you have to be honest with yourself. After leasing three BMWs in a row I thought it would be smart to buy the next one. Then, predictably I was bored of it in 2 years and was upside down when I sold it several months later. Bought a Mustang for cash next and because of that have held on to it longer than anything…
And now those cars clutter CPO lots with an asking that makes you think about leasing the new one.
It is. But as a Jalopnik I love cars. All of them. My current cars are the longest I’ve owned any. Damn kids.
This. Are any new premium German cars bought at all?
They do. But it helps (at least where I am) that $800 a month of a lease is tax deductible on your business auto lease expense.
No more insect cars, no more dog bone grills, no more angry looking cars and no more boring cars please.
I’m gonna say it, but as a teen these were one of the cars I had access to. And it was fun. Really. Plus it held more people and stuff then any of my wife’s many SUV/Crossover things and may be the reason I abhor SUV/Crossover things in the first place.
I like the optional stripe, it really helps the car stand out in a pond of Delorens. Still CP though.
Screw standard parts. Set a budget cap and let teams creatively design within the mathematical “formula”.
Neutral? Nope, I hate them. And I hate for every new one on the road more people are forced into one themselves to see ahead in traffic or to feel safe or simply because no one is building the kind of cars that would sell. Heck, if your car is a overweight tank with poor visibility why not just give in and buy an SUV…
Don’t see that in link.
True fact. 5 BMWs from 96 to ‘09. Every single one has electrical issues. One the issue seemed to travel around the car, one step ahead of the mechanics. Sometimes I think car reputations are as much about the owners as the cars themselves.
Well, since they won’t build me a new one, a last gen RX-7 from Mazda, C2 Corvette and Second Gen Firebird from GM, 64 Lincoln, 65 Mustang and 69 Cougar from Ford, 240zx and 300zX Twin Turbo from Nissan, Pagona roofed Mercs, Original Quattro from Audi, and that along with the Miat would do me fine.
My other “fun” car, a 2012 Boss 302 sits jealousy in the garage.
If there’s a company I can feel love for, it’s Mazda. But like you I crave more power. Still my Mazda2, originally bought as a winter car continues to amaze me with its fun to drive factor.
My first gen Miata was one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. Wonder what this will cost?
I’d just like to state for the record, I don’t want a self-driving car. What I want is for other drivers not to be able to operate their phones, take their eyes off the road or hands off the steering wheel and to be able to pass a stricter driving test. Surely that technology is cheaper to develop, no?
