It is irreversible, which is probably why some women could have a hard time finding a doctor willing to do it. But that's why I chose it.
I had the Essure procedure done this past August, and I have absolutely no regrets.
Wasn't the copper IUD associated with heavier periods and the occasional ectopic pregnancy?
I have the ParaGard (non-hormonal) IUD, and while the insertion was one of the most painful things I've ever experienced ("Oh come on, it's not like it's pregnancy pain," said my empathic and loving gynecologist), it is THE BEST. I love it. I should be a ParaGard spokeswoman, truly. It has allowed me to have wonderful…
"bad birth control experiences: GO!"
Apparently it has a lower failure rate than tubal ligation. After you get them inserted, you wait a few months for the scar tissue to develop and then the doctor does a test to see if anything can get through it. If it can't, you're good. It also doesn't require surgery, as the coils are inserted vaginally. It's also…
I have Essure. I have had it for about a year. I have never had any problems with it. Insertion was a breeze. The only pain I experienced is when they do the test to see if you're blocked; they push fluid that shows up on a scan into your uterus under pressure. It felt like a REALLY bad period cramp.
If you're in a long-term relationship and your male partner agrees you don't want any more kids, remember that vasectomies are quick, relatively painless, effective, and covered by most insurances! And come with a 0% chance of needing to get your uterus removed or having your leg inexplicably swell up. Hooray!
I just want to take a mo to say that I had Essure implanted in, oh, 2007 or 2008. I know I was 37 but I don't remember exactly when. I can say that I've had ZERO side effects. Other than my complete bliss at knowing I'll never get knocked up. The very worst part about the whole thing was the dye study they had to do…

THIS. this thread is the best. I'm sad it's not at the top (or part of the article), because I imagine many people (like me) watched it weren't sure what was satire and what was exploitation
Absolutely - and no one has considered what would have happened if she had used all white (or mostly white) dancers to do the same video - it would have come across as white-washed and the cultural appropriation aspect would have been obnoxious. In order to comment on the way pop culture looks right now you have to…
Lily Allen doesn't usually have backup dancers at all! How are people missing the satire?
Thank you. I think people's offensiveness alert is on so high they are missing some pretty obvious satire. I thought it was just the right amount of sarcasm to make the dig at Miley work (which is what I took it as). If she had made it extra extra obvious that she was being sarcastic (one commenter suggested her…
No, no, Lily Allen hates WoC and is saying the back up dancers are dumb or something. Sigh.
Yeah this feminist stuff is great and all but where in the hell do I find that gold eye shadow? LOVE.
The mostly black backup dancers are references to the general pop climate right now and mainly Rihanna and Miley Cyrus' image/ behavior (that a lot of other people are trying to emulate). Lily Allen doesn't usually have all black backup dancers. They're part of the satire in this case and were in all likelihood a very…
I love Lily Allen (Knock 'em Out is spectacular). And I love the message of this. But can we spend some time talking about how Theon Greyjoy is her brother?
There's nothing subtle about Lily Allen's new video for her song "Hard Out Here," and that's what makes it so great.…
