Are you a romance novelist? I would like to write one someday, but I feel like it might be actually kind of hard. What has your experience been?

Anyone have any good recommendations (that are NOT 'Shades of Grey') for romance novels? I'm an enthusiast, and I've read hundreds by now, but smart and well-written ones are hard to find. Obviously, the good ones have good smutty scenes, but in my experience they also have really good stories.
