Very sad. I know in some states that the police are required to take someone into custody if they see obvious scratch/ bruise/stab marks on a victim. It’s not really up to the couple…. because of course people will say “Oh never mind, we are ok now” when the police arrive. I only know this because I accidentally

And now he’s predictably disappeared, now that anyone with an IQ above Kumquat knows he’s murdered her.

Sad, predictable end for her and her family. The limits of benevolent sexism and any privilege society may give women is on display here. She looks the right part. She did every thing right and took a male “guardian” with her, she had the right family who cared about. Still she ended up murdered. Beyond getting people

It’s his affluenza-white-male-privilege at work.

I don’t know much about how law enforcement works, but I can’t imagine why the police weren’t keeping a closer eye on the boyfriend. Seems to me that there was plenty of reason to consider him a possible flight risk. Guess he snuck out a back window or something?

Was hoping maybe she had run away and would be found, but.. the predicable is unfortunately what happened. Next level genius moves from the boyfriend, who rode back into town alone acting like nothing had happened and hoping no one would look for her?

Humanity sucks :/

I was hoping, by some miracle, she would be found alive.  My daughter is 23, we’re very close, and if I lost her... I cannot even imagine how devastating it would be.

Lol. Sanctity of life” they say. And yet we know God’s worst representatives on earth would never allow a minor thing like ideological coherence get in the way of violent christian fascism.

My thoughts exactly. At first I was worried about his being sued--read the article and now I’m worried for his life. A true stand up hero.

Yep—this is evidence of decency at play. Also it’s significant that this is a doctor who remembers the time before legal abortion. He’s seen the consequences.

I think that’s kind of the point. I’ve been wondering how well doctors could adhere to the 6 week timeline; when let’s face it, unless you’re doing IVF, your OB is mostly depending on your data to estimate time of conception. And since he’s publicly daring someone to sue him, might as well put the full burden of proof

Exactly. It’s softcore White Christian Sharia down there. Any of those nutters could decide they need to wage a “holy war”. Aside from his legal defense, I hope he has safeguards for his security.

White Christian Supremacy never cared about the children. Only about making life hell on earth for women they deem whorish.

On a related note, it’s worth remembering that covid infections in pregnant women increase maternal mortality, miscarriage, and sundry other complications for mother and child.

Yet I suspect that many of the so called “pro-life” advocates championing the Texas law are among the ranks of the unvaccinated and oppose

A real act of bravery to do this in a place like Texasistan.

You aren’t a “toxic parent” if your frustrations overwhelm you. Even if they overwhelm you regularly. As a parent with bipolar, I’m here to tell you that you can struggle daily with your own challenges and still be a good parent. My boys still love me, still want to hang out with me, still show me affection.

Oof, the discipline/punish distinction is so hard to communicate about. I’ve had so many conversations to the effect of:

So you’re fine giving your kid a negative label, but you bristle at having one applied to you? You might want to think about that one a bit.
