But genetic modification is just a slower form of genetic engineering, as the genes from one type of species that would never meet naturally are merged through manipulation, but I do agree that the best is a slower more evolutionary approach to farming, but our populations are outstripping our ability to feed them.…

I think that the fact that they let the the rats eat as much as they want on top of being a cancer susceptible species of rat pretty much says that the research was goal oriented from the start.
