In low-contact sports like basketball, is there a real danger to just playing after a concussion? Aside from the obvious risk of another collision, of course. We all know that concussions after concussions are a huge problem but is there any evidence that strenuous activity leads to worsening symptoms?

He also said that he’s reached the point in his career where he “can be selective about opportunities.” Which is funny, because when at least least three major, big-market teams made coaching moves this year, his name was never even whispered as part of the conversation.

Not sure if you’ve been paying attention, but Tampa Bay is, as the kids say, en fuego.

As bad as that was, it was inches away from being way, way worse.

I’m pretty sure that was the extent of the conversation, too. “If this holds up, we’re leading off SportsCenter tomorrow. Home run.”

Prepare for another month of Roger Goodell doing everything he can to get us talking about Tom Brady’s balls.

For all the elevation of focus, preparedness, and conditioning that fans and athletes are guilty of, this is another reminder that games are still just random exercises. Sometimes you prep for 12 hours, study tape, sleep in a hyperbaric chamber, eat perfectly and have coffee and let in 5 goals. Or you get blasted in

You know, if I looked like Samwell Tarly I probably wouldn’t take my shirt off at the beach, much less get in the ring with a 7’0” force of nature. I don’t even think Dong broke a sweat here.

That Brock Holt tag. What a disaster.

That’s it: Metallurg. Back when he started I think it was the Super League. Since then it's only gotten shadier.

The point is that the number of Russians in the NHL has declined drastically. As for those stars, at least one (Malkin) basically snuck out of the country to duck his hostage deal with the Russia. team (Dynamo iirc). He broke the rules to come here once, I'm positive others would follow suit.

How attention-humping Dan Snyder hasn’t made it on Hard Knocks yet is beyond me.

Ok I’m not a basketball person. But didn’t Howard have a pretty decent lane when he got the pass? Better odds for at least a foul than a three, right?

Something about a Gawker Media site not listing Statler & Waldorf at #1 seems inherently dishonest.

You can take the boy out of Hawaii...

If that's the deal, Kraft got boned. Which is going to hurt the Patriots more long-term: 4 games without Brady (what are they, probably 2-2 at worst there?) or losing a first-round pick?

“I didn’t fire him just for the halibut.”

I can tell you’re a real fan because you listed the Starting XI from today’s game, which features three non-regulars. One of whom had exactly 61 minutes to his name before today’s game.

Being drafted does not mean making it, though. I don’t know the stats but probably 75% of first round picks get more than a cup of coffee in the NHL, then it’s all downhill from there. Second round probably 50%, 3rd and beyond must be 15%? And most first-round picks are still CHL guys. Until recently, NCAA players

Remember when Ilya Kovalchuk was supposed to be the diplomatic Russian who bridged the icy gap between Ovechkin and Malkin? And how he was the most-coveted trade target after Marian Hossa? Then how drove Parise out of New Jersey, only to “retire” and cash in with the KHL?
