So far with the 4080 and 4090, the performance increases seem to be there for the most part. What’s unusual is the instead of paying less for more or same (20xx to 30xx launch), we’re paying more for more. Still the same or similar performance for dollar.

Because the rules differ for passenger vs non-passenger vehicles. Just read up on safety rules for non-passenger vehicles. The papers are public domain. It’s the same story with emissions. That’s why we’re not seeing better MPG from these vehicles either.
