I'd guess likely a combination of very low volume production, plus likely very high quality + tight tolerances. Those alone can push up prices significantly!

We let AMG slide for the most part when they stuck "6.3" badges on an engine that was really a 6.2. BMW calling it a 335i when it's a 3.0-liter turbo is a little less palatable. Audi sticking "TFSI" on its cars with a supercharged V6 was just weird.

I love aftermarket companies like that, that just seem like nice guys. It's definitely good advertising for them as well, so it's not entirely out of the goodness of their hearts, but still.

As an engineer, I enjoyed the first more from a realism standpoint, and the costumes/actors/scenery/props being closer to what I got out of the books.
