Things vary depending on state but for the most part you’re right. I’m in CO and do get a few minor breaks because of background and some employment aspects but about half of my firearms have a can on them. It wasn’t as expensive or lengthy as you described.

Exactly. As I understand it they can’t restart production without going through massive amounts of basically designing it all over again. They intentionally destroyed the capability simply so there was no possible way certain technologies could be compromised shy of losing an actual airframe.
