AWACs are still important for organizing and deconflicting airspace. Many of those aircraft that countries like SK are operating as AWACs aren’t like our E-3s. They’re more like an E-3 and JSTARS combined, just with significantly less capability.

Nice analysis Tyler and yeah, that is a ton of ass for a training exercise. Their K9 arty is phenomenal. All of those new systems that can stagger a half dozen rounds to all impact simultaneously is awe inspiring when coupled with that kind of accuracy.

Ah good call, I’d completely forgotten that. And yeah it was effective, but it was also a very small corvette/patrol gunboat. You could sink one of them if you spit at in the wrong spot.

By all means, find ONE example of someone using “Lighten up Francis” to insult the French. One simple example that illustrates the inherent “racism” in that phrase. Seriously, just find one. If you can do that, I’ll make a video apology for you and post it all over FA, so everyone can see my racism. Rofl...

Ahahahahahha. I love this. Are you really trying to say that a popular pop culture phrase, and especially internet culture, doesn’t mean what it does, even though I provided the link? The whole world is wrong, and it’s really a slight against the French? You’re on par with moronic shooter in VA. Not smart enough to

I think it’s cool. The C-17 was a pretty big success. I’m sure they can do more of the same.

You’re right. Calling the 53 cm tubes “small” isn’t correct. I was more referring to the fact that they’re small in relation to the 63cm tubes that are also seen on Russian subs. They also seem “small” in comparison in terms of performance and warhead when compared with other 53cm fish. Out of all the 53cm fish, only

Now playing

Christ you’re a motherfucking moron. Keep digging idiot. Nobody brought up France except you. Nobody has ever connected that popular phrase to France...except you. Racism? Really? Are you fucking stupid? I’m racist against an old comedy?

I should have been more explicit. I’m referring more to their destructive power than the diameter of the tubes. Their Type 53 torpedoes comes in a million variants, including a nuclear one. The anti-ship version has a 250-ish kg (vary’s a little based on variant) warhead. The anti-sub version is half of that. Compare

Yeah it would be really difficult though. WWI and WWII subs basically had to lay in wait for targets as they weren’t fast enough to chase down merchant vessels. These boats are pretty much the same difference, the only difference is todays merchant ships have much higher performance, better standards to fight

Lol so am I. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if a couple never came back.

Yeah I should have elaborated. That’s small for Soviet bloc ships. Their 533mm fish are smaller than Western 53cm fish and much smaller than the 63cm that many of those ships have. I can’t look right now but I think the fearsome Japanese “Long Lance” torpedoe was also far bigger than 53cm.

Were they? When?

Ya think? Attacking shipping in that region would be pretty dumb, because there’s a good chance it belongs to Japan, the US, or China.

I don’t think they’re THAT dumb. It would be pretty impossible to prove. When the Kursk went down, the first torpedo exploding was recorded on seismic recording equipment (whatever it’s called?) in a dozen countries. When the secondaries went off every ship with a sonar heard it and knew exactly what happened.

Yeah, that was my thought process in saying they’re a threat to surface ships. I didn’t mean they were a threat to any warship built post-1960 :)

Lie about what? You’re the ingrate that took a popular phrase, from a very popular military movie, and connected it to....France? Fuck off dipshit. Your armchair general bullshit is irrelevant and moronic. Wear the uniform for 5 minutes, then come back and tell me what soldiers need and how you’re the only one

Yeah I’m equally skeptical about the SOF forces. I’m sure they are hard as nails, no doubt, but the biggest strengths of units like that is operating outside the box and thinking on their feet. Kinda hard when you’re an automaton!

It was a faulty weld, allowing that propellant to mix with something (maybe 02? h20? I dont remember) and one cooked off in the tube. A few minutes later another six cooked off.
