The initial response wasn't until about one week in, and it was a generic response. The second response was 48 hours after that, telling me that no charge had been made and that I hadn't purchased anything. The real 'movement' didn't happen after I showed the charge and made a few overtones about charging my account

Yeah, ignoring the fact this is a bold-faced lie, I'm just gonna say that every attempt EA's made to 'establish a relationship' with me thus far has ended me in liking them even less. Remember the old EA store? Ever try to buy something from it? My favorite experience was when they charged my credit card, something

'My point is that when we too readily stretch an individual's right to free speech to include a corporation's right to sell violence to minors, we collude in poisoning our own future-and tragedies like Columbine'

Probably wouldn't be as fun as you remember it though. Heirloom gear allows your average '19' twink to have about four times the health. If they're a Rogue, they can—no exaggeration—kill a 'Best-of-dungeon- geared Mage in maybe one hit out of stealth. Two if they're kitted out.

I definitely saw the monster and thought 'Huh, it's Cthulu... barfing... a slug.'

Judging the reaction and out-and-out riots in-game, I'd say gamers are pretty 'passionate' about it, just no in the way you'd like.

The thing that's baffling about this is CCP's reaction to this is pretty dangerous for just the reason you mentioned: They're growing, but I wouldn't say they're giant yet. Pissing off its most ardent fan-base—when it was word-of-mouth that really got people noticing them, seems... counter-productive.

Not so hard actually when you break it down.

I once heard that MMO games make fantastic sociological studies, because the group dynamic is shockingly like real life.

I'm not saying Jim Redner's claims aren't legitmate, but I wonder how many people with egg on their face play the 'threatened mah family~!' card—either by mis-interpreting a message or straight up lying to earn some faux-sympathy. Like, I don't think what he said could reasonably be elevated to death threats, I just

It's over-rated for SOME classes, but a Heavy is like 450 health with uber-charge. You'll find him getting shot out from under you more often with such a weapon.

"SCIENTIST. LAVA. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT~!" Is still my go-to line whenever I get frustrated by a conversation in which common sense is being ignored.

One more interesting change they didn't mention anywhere I saw; they added a sort of quasi 'matchmaker' in addition to being able to browse servers. Select the game type and click start and it pretty much finds a server for you. Interesting, though I dunno how it'll keep you from stumbling into customs server 32

rofl. Best piece of advice I can give you to possibly enjoy that game a little more is to forget about stealth. That was the first step.

Part of the problem is, of course, that the crackpots get the media attention over people who are investigating culture and mythology or looking for undiscovered species. Discovering something like the coelecanth doesn't get much buzz—even though it's a REALLY cool discovery, but the guy who swears there's a big

I love how this thread has blossomed from 'how to cope with not liking a game most gamers like' to 'Sipping on haterade on a number of popular title series regularly brought up on Kotaku.' Wow, some people don't like Halo or Modern Warfare 2? I would have never guessed reading comments around these parts. (I also

In fairness, part of the reason international sales aren't quite as touted is they're another step removed from the profit line, they make less profit, for reasons that I seem to recall being a bit complicated.

Funny, considering how much of Duke Nukem Forever was brown.

Smart enough to play video games...

Yeah. I have a soft spot for Quake and all but I'm very much in 'wait and see' mode right now. I dunno though—I mean, we had a throwback already with Duke Nukem Forever, right? Why not a throwback to the insane cyborg-demon-absurd visual aesthetic of the old Quak—
