The problem is, you all look the same to us, we’re usually following your bubbles, except for Penny.

The CBC usually gives you four choices of events, mostly with CBC commentators and sometimes the blokes from BBC.

Did NBC show Penny swimming over to Simone after the race and embracing her. That was an awesome picture, that is what they say sport is all about (but hardly ever is).

The CBC streaming of the swimming has also been superb.

She’s really nice, did you see the way she swam over to Simone and embraced her. Got me a little tearful.

Penny (a real good Canadian kid) also is an interesting story. She now has a gold, silver and two bronze and she is only 16 and been an Olympian for five days.

Look Tim, all you Americans look the same to us, especially in the pool where all we see is your bubbles (except for Penny).

Actually there was another gold medal winner in the event. She’s sixteen years old and is surprising the hell out of the swimming experts. Penny has already won a silver and two bronze this week and she is natural and ‘real good Canadian kid’. The way she swam over to her co-winner and embraced her was tearful to me.

This woman really earned it. She came back from injury and worked long and hard. Well deserved.

Good on ya Lilly. Breaststroke is just freaky; many competitors come out of nowhere and many favourites fade. The leg whip kick can cause so many injuries and rarely do competitors compete at the highest level for multiple Olympics like freestylers or butterflyers.

All the gear, all the time. So right. Last week I was on a First Responder call and had to package a patient who had a slow speed crash on Hornby Island. Flip flops, shorts and t-shirt; lots of skin grafts ahead for the young man.

This is every firefighter’s nightmare. The best way to put out a fire is to get close and hit it with water/foam. Not so much with vehicles; they are loaded with gas, have lots of airbags (think mini-bombs) and are made of so much flammable material. Multiple fires in a parking lot is so dangerous.

When biking on the road I always assume the automobile drivers are trying to kill me. This has kept me out of some hairy situations and defuses road rage since the asshole is doing what I was expecting anyway. Try it, it’s been working for me, for over fifty years.
