Exactly, and your example nicely illustrates that not only is there a difference between allergy and food intolerance, there is ALSO a difference between a medically diagnosed food intolerance and a self-diagnosed/assumed food intolerance.

I appreciate the difference, but some days it’s easier for my sis to call her garlic intolerance an allergy when she already has to explain to the kitchen that she is allergic to mustard. Sure, garlic won’t kill her like mustard will, but she’ll be deeply miserable and unable to do much for 3 days.
