If you are buying steel by the ton or parts by the ten-thousands, you can easily take dimensions, destructively test one part and run a material analysis in very short order. That’s what Receiving Inspection was equipped with tools to do. With a randomly selected sample, if the dimensions are correct, if the material

I can see your logic path. I don’t disagree with it. I’ve seen this change in the supply chain over my career. The OEM’s are willing to take this gamble but they will be dragged into court along with the supplier when bad stuff happens. They hope they can sidestep it but it’s just how civil litigation happens. Name

Years ago manufacturers had a department called Receiving Inspection. It was comprised of folks who actually tested incoming steel to verify its composition. Now suppliers “self certify” incoming material. Doesn’t seem like such a bright idea NOW, does it?

COTD. right there!

No you don’t “need” them but studded tires provide a measure of safety on roads that never clear of ice and snow for months at a time. I’ve driven in Sweden near the Arctic Circle in winter on studs as well as un-studded winter tires. I’d choose studs in a heartbeat for those conditions. Hitting a moose at 60 because

Don’t NEED studded tires in Michigan? What about the Upper Peninsula? Yoopers don’t see clean pavement for months on end much like northern Europe - Sweden, Finland, Norway - countries that use studded tires for 6 months a year. Maybe the brilliant folks in Lansing don’t know the U-P is part of Michigan?

No, exactly the opposite. The Civic Hybrid and the Accord Hybrid both looked far too much like their standard models. This did not allow the “green” ass-hats to properly identify their holier-than-thou hybrid cars to their friends and neighbors. The Prius and the Insight both did that.

I agree completely. My mom had a Nummi built Geo Prism (Corolla) and it was a well-built car. Pretty much proved it wasn’t the UAW screwing things up!

Not NUMMI. Not at all. NUMMI was a Joint venture UAW plant in a high tax state. This is a low tax state with a Right to Work law. Not even close to NUMMI.

Good the car(s) didn’t bite you! I always recommend low power cars for first track days because its easier to learn to drive at the limit in the corners. Lower speeds with skinny tires teaches you how to conserve speed and not rely on the engine to thrust you down the straights.

The first Viper WAS a stripped out track car!

C’mon, a number of these low sellers were close-outs or in-transition car models. The rest were high dollar cars that always sell in low numbers. I don’t think it is representative of the market as a whole but it IS a hint.

I can’t. I am not in marketing. My mind is not assembled that way!

LeMons racers should be salivating at all those sweet, wet hoopties taking up space at TWS. Corrosion won’t kill the electrics before LeMons racing will.

And stability control, too!

butthole pucker?

Considering that most of these type events have an elderly driver behind the wheel, the bank drive thru seems appropriate.

Why am I explaining extremely basic business principles to random internet people?

Last quarter, Tesla was in the loss column by $619M with $3B in sales. Had to borrow $2B. Even though their sales revenue continues to grow, their earnings don’t. Impossible to say if any of Tesla’s cars make money since they are running at a loss and do not report the car operations separetatly from the battery and

Nope, don’t work for New Yorkers. Retired at 51, moved to FL at 53. Don’t eat at Sizzler. Have a happy life, try not to die from crime, traffic or stress!
