Be clear between real Race tires - slick tires for racing only - and DOT race tires often call R-comps. The R-comps are indeed race tires have some tread (one or 2 grooves) and are not intended for the street. These DOT race tires bride between full race tires and street tires because there are compromises that must

That is some cumbersome sentence structure! I understand now that I re-read it.

What I posted was copied right off the NTSHA site except the parenthetic phrase at the end that 60% with helmets died. The data is bulk, the accidents are totally random and must be taken as such.

uuuhm, no! The most you can get from those stats is that you are about as likely to die with a helmet as without. Actually slightly worse odds with. I use my helmet but don’t judge those who ride bare headed.

Our local sheriff has about a dozen. Multiply that across all cities and states that have MC patrols, I’d say a safe guess is MORE than 15.

The statement spells out very clearly that 40% of those that died in MC crashes were NOT wearing helmets. Since that is a binary condition - either you were a helmet or you don’t - that means 60% of MC deaths were wearing helmets. And that’s ALL it means. Given those stats, seems arguable that one should wear a

Neither you nor I know that the helmet killed them. This is the stats the government has collected. Use it as you see fit. I always helmet-up but I don’t judge those who don’t.

  • According to the latest data available from the Federal Highway Administration, there were 8.6 million private and commercial motorcycles on U.S. roads in 2015, compared with 8.0 million in 2009.

Airbags ARE mandatory equipment (both sides) in all automobiles and have been since 1998 in the US. Don’t know where you live but in the US it is law.

I always felt naked riding without a helmet or even gloves for that matter. So I don’t ride without my helmet, gloves, boots and the like. And I never take my track car onto the race track without a helmet on, either.

Yes, I agree with this. In my 17 years of racing, I had NO idea the gender of the driver behind, beside or in front of me. It didn’t matter, I wanted past the one in front and wanted the one behind to stay that way and I wanted to out-brake the one beside me. It is racing. Doesn’t matter what gender you are, it only

While I may be quick to applaud Texans response to Harvey, you are quick to dismiss the effort. Compare Mississippi’s response and rebuilding effort and results 10 years later.

But they do the exactly same thing to that 18 year old male rookie, too. They also try to put him into the fence as much as her. It is racing. Nothing is fair about racing. You want respect? You earn it from your competitors, woman or man.

Drum Brakes Are Awful! Bloody Awful - unless painstakingly adjusted, constantly.

I think you are on the right track. I personally think a naked-sport V-Rod motor in one of these new models but with a rolled-forward, mid-peg riding style. Kind of a less radical Buell design with the V-Rod engine.

Interesting info. Cali hipsters on H-D’s ! I can’t see that demographic being large enough to keep H-D in the black, but thanks for the observation.

So Louisiana and New Orleans have completely recovered from Katrina, right? We are still hearing people bitch about that. And we still see the 9th ward as a ghost town on stilts.

Agree.... same shit, different day. They look like Harleys, they sound like Harleys, and they are fat like Harleys. Does this appeal to 30 year olds? No. Will these turn around H-D’s sales? No.

Agree with this choice. An open 2 axle trailer with a car is 5000 - 6000 lbs. This 1/2 ton has plenty of capacity with the bigger engine and should tow it easily. If a 3/4 jumps in front of you for similar money, buy it, but the 1/2 ton will do.

Stop towing that, RIGHT now! That is NOT smart! (see what I did there?)
