Last time I checked everything listed was both a piece of crap and horribly expensive. Ended up at resort with private beach for the same nightly cost. To be fair this is a market demand situation, but I looked at several options in multiple states and every time the nightly cost was more that resort lodging.

I bet it’s tangential, but not a primary cause. The main cause is what makes most things go to shit in a capitalistic society - C-suite idiots chasing this quarter’s profits above every other concern. Cheaper materials used, cheaper labor sought, less attention paid not only to QC, but to the assembly process itself.…

Not at all. They go together. A travel trailer has about a 15% tongue weight. So say you have a 12000 lb towing capacity, 15% of that on the tongue would be 1800 lbs of payload. In the highest spec Tundra, I couldn't tow that and sit my fat ass in it let alone passengers. I had a 2015 F150 with over 11000 lbs towing…

Even this little guy has a payload of 1900lbs. Looking at many, many trucks on the roads has led me to understand that a huge percentage of truck owners have no concept of "max payload" or "GVWR".
