I have absolutely no justifiable reason for purchasing this, as I’m pretty thin on board game playing friends; even less so when it comes to friends who’d be all about this...

Might be able to spice it up a little by taking item and enemy placement out of player’s control by rolling some dice (or using a RNG) to determine what and where things go. That way items become something people can compete for rather than just being a thing you get, disconnected from the actual racing board. Also
