Uh, I'm not sure who you mean, but I've only seen one person claiming to work for Obsidian. I do not.

Eh, I didn't mind it for what it was, but then, I was never a huge Dungeon Siege fan. Admittedly, DS3 felt a little bit like the, uh, "Dark Alliance" version of the franchise, and it didn't leave that much of an impression in terms of characters or story, but I thought it was, y'know, adequate.

They didn't "bomb" Alpha Protocol. It didn't do as well as expected in terms of sales, but that is rarely an indication of a game's actual quality (see: Beyond Good and Evil).

New Vegas was, as a Fallout game, vastly superior to Fallout 3.

You could make an argument for top 4 instead (I forgot about Bethesda somehow,

"considering how much money it lost them"

...due in part to Sega's ongoing inability to adequately promote a game that doesn't have Sonic in it.

Seriously. It happens over and over again. The Yakuza series. Alpha Protocol. Valkyria Chronicles. Vanquish. Binary Domain. And the list goes on...

Besides which, I'm frankly

It does depend a lot on what skills you take with your character.

Stealth + pistols basically turns the game into easy mode. A couple of chain shots will drop practically any boss, and the "turn invisible for several seconds" ability in the stealth tree makes taking down regular enemies trivial.

And Alpha Protocol has more reactivity than I've seen in possibly -any- RPG in the last decade, and that includes The Witcher 2.

Classy.

Presumably because they're one of the top 3 western RPG developers operating right now?

...it's totally gonna end with the kid dying, represented by him going off to "live" in the fantasy worlds forever, isn't it?

Damnit.

"Sadvertisement" has now officially entered my vocabulary. Thanks, Kirk.

I'd forgotten all about the Prince of Persia trailer, but yeah, that one is gorgeous. I'd be tempted to include Bioshock Infinite's "Beast of America" trailer, but I might not be far enough removed from that one yet to make a reasonable judgment.

There's a difference between "art" and "craft" (and I don't mean that in a derogatory "arts and crafts" way).

Call of Duty displays a lot of craft. However, it doesn't really have anything to -say-.

I don't really think the comparison to Irrational is appropriate, honestly. They're doing two very different things. If

You know, when you start referring to other people as "stupid cattle" because of their choice of video game console, it might be time to step back and get a little perspective.

There's a difference between deliberate homage and simply reusing an entire scene.

Eh, I don't think the present day stuff is doing any harm, and I actually find the "Abstergo Entertainment" meta-story in the present day of AC4 pretty amusing.

Yeah, AC3 was a huge mis-step, but I don't think that means the present-day stuff is irrevocably tainted. Besides, the Animus is central to a lot of the

"STOP LIKING THINGS THAT I DON'T LIKE"

See, I would be totally behind them trying something new.

The problem, at least so far, is that the "newness" is largely superficial, while the stuff that could actually stand some innovation remains essentially the same.

Like...I'm an elite soldier, yet 9 times out of 10, I still have to wait until my scripted buddy

Again, I understand what's literally happening in the story. I'm not confused about the structure.

It's just bizarre and sort of all over the place.

No, I mean, I more or less understand that part, it's just...it's oddly paced and sort of all-over-the-place, leaving aside some of the silliness like the shootout aboard the space station.

Man, I remember when Black Ops II was the weird spin-off branch of CoD. Now CoD is the weird spin-off branch of CoD.

Oh, yeah. It doesn't really look anything like either of those games.

Kind of.

I say Killzone, because the game doesn't bear any plausible resemblance to our world. You're fighting South America, but it's just called "The Federation", and you're using lots of crazy high-tech weapons in a weirdly post-apocalyptic landscape (at least at first).

I say Blood Dragon because it has the same
