For some, asking the parents is a huge deal. For others it isn't. I never said that it was wrong. I just have an issue with the Six Rules thing-bit high maintenance, in my opinion.

Oh, come on. I never said traditional weddings were bad, and I just said that I personally would be mortified at a public proposal-that doesn't mean everyone would. But getting someone to film your proposal and forcing the guy to subscribe to SIX RULES about proposing? Sorry, that's pretty obnoxious.

Pinterest does indeed put out a lot of bullshit.

Yeah, I wouldn't oppose having my nails done, but I'm in the same boat. My nails are never done, so the odds of them being done for a proposal are slim to none.

You go girl!

HAHAHA "expect a fart"

HAHAHA perfect

I live in Texas, and the "Ring by Spring" sorority girl types that insist on this shit really bother me.

Haha! Oh man, at least you got a month full of cute hair/nails out of it!

I literally told my boyfriend that if he proposes to me in public or tries to catch it on camera that I WILL say no.

"Emily, will you-" "STOP RIGHT THERE. Where's the middle name? The last name? The suffix? Jesus, can you do anything right?"

Yeah, "sorry, your dad said not right now, so...that's that, I guess." If my dad had listened to his parents about getting married my parents would never have gotten married.

I always wondered that. And if he wants to catch it on camera that seems like a production. "Ah, shit, sorry Bob, put away the camera, her nails aren't done."

YES.

lucky. My mom, normally the most complimentary woman in the world, has told me, "honey, you're just not a pretty crier."

The nail thing is true, engagement rings just look so preeeetttyy with a manicure! I agree about the blessing thing, too. Also since I've been dating my boyfriend for 6 years I feel like if they didn't like him they would have let me know by now haha.
