It's not how fast he stops, it's the fact that he slides across the floor for probably twenty feet or so WITHOUT slowing down at all. He only slows down when he gets to the wall. As soon as he starts sliding, he should start slowing down. The rate of his deceleration does depend on the coefficient of friction…

The physics issues that bother me the most are:
