Well now we're going around in circles. The original post I responded to shows a consultant who is very vocal about having worked with Leto, going as far as to say 'did you know I taught Jared Leto how to be transexual?'

Well that's my point. He portrayed trans after receiving a script that presented him with a gay, male cross-dresser. The character isn't particularly rich as written, but given the consultants Leto used for the film I do think he made the character more human and slightly less tropey.
