@Purple Dave: nobody whose anybody gives three tenths of a hoot about Pope Gregory or his ackwards bass calendar and neither should you.

decades are defined by the digit in the tens place, not some arbitrary calendar count that may or may not have had a 'year zero' nor whatever nebulous effects that lack of a year may or may not have. yes that could meant that 'the very first decade' only might have had nine years, who care, that was like, two thousand

@D Mitsuki, Gotta have guts kid!: We're not talking 'most' western games though, just western RPGs, which are considerably more focused on gameplay and story than other western games.

JRPGs, (and in fact, many Japanese games that aren't JRPGS, lookin' at you MGS) focus on story over gameplay, and sometimes story to the detriment or outright exclusion of gameplay.

And so it begins

@CatsAkimbo: the problem isn't so much that Nolan North always sounds like Nolan North, it's because, as Sedako said, he's been pigeonholed and now every developer wants him to do the same voice.

No one's sick of John DiMaggio yet, and he's in tons more stuff.

You're clearly mistaken, someone has accidentally included Assassin's Creed 2 in a list of /worst/ writing nominations

what, no F-14D? I'd trade anything in that photo (except the F-15 ACTIVE) for some good 'ole Top Gun style.

@Brian: Every car with xenon lights should come with one that just slaps the driver every time they get in the car.

whatever you call them, the fewer the better.

"that would depend on violent video games being consumed by minors in numbers greater than porn"

this may geekify me a bit, but reminds me of 'Space Munchkins'

Moon is my picture of the year, no question. District 9 is up there while Star Trek and Avatar get honorable mentions for genre work, but I wouldn't really put them anywhere near 'best picture' contention. Regrettably, I haven't seen Coraline yet.

Toyo—- my normal approach is useless here

I've always wondered about this, but never really had the inclination to actually test it out.

There's one of these sitting outside an office building in Austin with an ad painted on the side. Such a waste, every time I'm in town I drive by and hope that someone's done something worthwhile with it.

Y;know, when I left the theater last night, I had a thought that Avatar might become this generation's Star Wars. Glad to see I'm not the only one.
