Reading the comments, I’m amazed how many guys state they were trained to wait for a woman to offer her hand for a handshake. I’m in my late 20s, in Canada and have never heard of that. If there’s handshaking or high-fiving, everyone is getting one regardless of gender!

I still manage to take a couple minutes to chitchat if they chat me up. It’s opened up opportunities to work on projects I was interested in, and it’s gotten me facetime with people who’ll be happy to give me glowing recommendations when I move on.
