The Galactic Center series by Gregory Benford.

Holy crap. I cannot hear that music without actual gooseflesh. Literal, actual, real goosebumps. Such a good movie.

I actually don't mind ads. Sometimes they are more entertaining than the program I'm ostensibly watching. I will often stop and watch an ad when I COULD just ff through because it's a product I'm actually interested in.

Wow. It's exactly that text.

I have a human embryology textbook that is pure, unadulterated, triple-distilled, high-octane nightmare fuel.

You gotta remember, Star Wars was a "budget flick" (11 Million dollar budget - that's about $40 mill in today's money). It was not a guaranteed success and most everybody thought it would be a fairly insignificant film. It had the budget to match. Most of what is special about the movie is pure sweat equity.

I wish modern movies would let the scenes breathe a little.

Anything that has a bit where any character (usually a wizened elder-type) talks about "a prophecy", or something being "foretold". Stahp, please.

The guy leads with a flip and and then orients himself perfectly for a nice landing. That's a pretty well-executed stunt.

I had my first child the day after I turned 30. I am a much better father now than I would have been in my early-to-mid-20s. Done with my lengthy education, fiscally solvent, and most important - I now have a bit of patience and perspective.

Tron 2.0. Beautiful, but terribly empty.

The problem with water intake is not that you lose salt, it's that you dilute your electrolytes too much, osmosis takes over and your brain swells.

I wasn't predicting extinction, only that the industrial revolution was a one-shot deal. We can easily get back from an agrarian society to Victorian levels, but a high-tech society will be very difficult to reaccomplish.

Not just a good landing. Dare I say: beautifully done?

And if we ever do suffer a planet wide catastrophe...we will never be able to rebuild back to where we are today. All the easily acquired energy and resources are gone.

When I saw it I couldn't believe the hard sci-fi elements they brought into the story. Very good, but tossing the singularity in? Holy hell.

And yet, the r350 was a poor seller despite having much better looks (imo - see pic), more power, and a similar configuration and was basically an S-class rebody.

This guy is making a sarcastic gripe about how people want him to work for free - by posting a ridiculous ad requesting people work for free.

My two girls (8 & 6) love System of a Down.

You would benefit more from a decent GPU/decentCPU combo than a really high-end CPU.
