Why, while this IS upgradable, Valve made it clear that the "Steam Console" isn't designed for PC Gamers that want full control of their hardware, but for the people that just want to pick something up and plug it in.

No, they're right. Consoles as they have been since the 80s are dying. This, the Game Stick, Ouya, etc. all have something that the others don't offer:

Not the same - GTA III has been rewritten with Android in mind whereas a PS2 emulator would have to emulate the entire PS2 hardware AND run the game. A lot harder than you think.

What else is on the computer? Remember, Console run well on old hardware because almost nothing is running in the background - not so with a Computer (at least not Win or Mac). Keep in mind the big difference between a console and a computer is this:

?? What are you talking about. Steam Big Picture runs the same on Windows, Mac and Linux. The only thing you may have is that many games will have to be ported... not that it is that hard to do - it's harder to port from Windows -> Console or Console -> Windows than it is to port Windows -> Linux or Windows -> Mac.

As a Gamer, you should never need more than 4 - 6 GB of RAM, unless you're working in IT, Video Editing, or Graphic Design. Even if you did 8GB of RAM right now is about $30-$40 (Less during sales).

Some of the greatest complaints I've found in the reviews have little to do with what Peter Jackson did with the movie and more to do with the nature of the source. The complaints of no tension since the movie doesn't have a "fate of the world" vibe has to do with the story being an adventure story, not a war story.

What I find interesting is 1/3 of the Media reviewers out rag on the hobbit while nearly all the "regular people" that have seen it seem to really like it.

I'm getting tired of these arguments. Book length has nothing to do with it... keep in mind they left about a 3rd of the Two Towers out of the movie and still made a move that (in the EE) is nearly 4 hours long. Tolkien had a strange knack for including tons more information into a 300pg book than you get in a 800pg

I'm not entirely convinced by the arguments that the WiiU will be severely underpowered compared to next year's Xbox and Playstation successors. It will be underpowered and the Unreal Engine 4 looks amazing, but we are getting into the world of diminishing returns on Graphics... There are two main reasons Indie

How do you enjoy C#? I'm not a dev, but a Systems Admin, so my coding is limited to things like bash, python, perl, batch and Powershell/VBScript.

You do realize that Plastic stands up better when dropped, hit, smashed, etc than aluminum does?

I went back an watched the TED Viral video for Prometheus and, I could be wrong, but the Voice Over sounds more like Guy Pearce's voice rather than Ben Kingsley's

Ubuntu runs on Gnome3. Unity and Gnome Shell (Fedora's default DE) both run on GNOME3

This is also a good reminder as to why you should never save your account passwords in a browser that's on a computer with public access (including home/work computers)

It shows up on the web interface... you have to close the Nexus Ad (X in the upper right corner)

FTL: Faster than Light is great if you love Rogue-like and space.

I'd love to do those things, but with the nature of my job, I would never have a break (let alone lunch) in my 8-10 hour day I'f I quit doing all of that at my desk.

My fiancee uses chrome, but still goes to Google.com to search. Most people I know don't realize you can search from the address bar

I don't understand why people would want WiFi on a steaming game system. WiFi can be incredibly unreliable at times, slower than ethernet, and more susceptible to "noise" than a cable running a few feet. A PS3 and 360 are great with WiFi as they don't require as much bandwidth, but a streaming game device on WiFi?
