What about an option for a standing desk at a place that uses all Glass Desks?
What about an option for a standing desk at a place that uses all Glass Desks?
Not that big of a deal anymore. Linux Mint runs an UI very similar to Windows itself and Ubuntu's interface, while not perfect, is very user friendly. Not to mention that they are both easy to install OSes. Is "Year of the Linux Desktop" here? No, probably not, but if anything will cause it, it will be Windows 8
It's not just that. The simple fact is that the Windows Store requirements would prevent any AAA or even indie PC games from being released into the Windows Store and most users aren't going to care enough to find an alternative application to install their software from. Even worse, if MS locks down Windows 8 in…
The big problems that developers have is the closed Windows Store. More than that, as it stands, games like Mass Effect, Battlefield, Call of Duty, WoW, etc wouldn't be allowed on the Store as they don't, and can't possibly, fit the requirements for putting an Application or Game on the Store.
The opposite to that is that stuff doesn't generally go wrong very often, unless I screw it up myself.
Yes, but this is what CCP are already doing with EVE Online and the upcoming DUST514 - 1 server cluster (Tranquility) for all I/O, Load Balancing, Etc in the live game. If they can do it, so can anyone else - the hurdle is probably cost.
Where do you live? I have Cox and it's 100 times better than the Time Warner I used to have and when we had issues with our connection only getting 1-2 Mbps out of our 18Mbps, they sent a tech out right away.
It has to do with MS pushing touch over desktop.... even the requirements for putting Applications and Games in the Microsoft Store would prevent ANY AAA games from being released to it. That's what game devs are upset about.
The Windows/Microsoft Store (or whatever it's called) will drive your average user away from using Steam or other non-MS distribution services - which hurt these companies and takes the control of their products away from them and into MS's hands (not ours), much like the Mac App Store for Apple. Which, starting with…
It has nothing to do with that. Microsoft is slowly moving towards a closed eco system, like Apple (By default in Mountain Lion you can't install programs/applications and games that aren't from the Mac App Store - the user has to change this). If that happens, I can tell you business IT deptartments will be the…
You missed the point there. The OS speed is fine, but a bad or inefficient interface can make or break the OS's clout with the business. I'd never allow Windows 8 as it is on my network, my users still have a hard enough time switching from XP to windows 7. Productivity is the key with Windows in business and I'm…
1st Person Game/RPG/Adventure =/= First Person Shooter.... not to mention Minecraft has a 3rd person perspective
I tend to run into the same issues installing a fresh Windows 7 on my laptop. Ubuntu 12.04 installs far more smoothly than windows as the drivers are included by default and if you need a proprietary driver (like a Video Card) then it tells you that it's available. None of my laptops basic drivers COME with windows…
Yes, but even many Linux-based Distros update faster than android. It's the Carriers (most notably Verizon) holding the updates back. They are notorious for preventing innovation on their networks. Vizio once planned on doing its own android phones - they opted out after attempting to deal with carriers. Google…
Galaxy S II isn't an Android Flagship device. Only Google's Nexus Devices are TRUE flagships as Google has most of the control over the Nexus Devices ("most" only because Verizon makes them jump through hoops to update Nexus phones)
I know we all rag on android devs and manufacturers about fragmentation, but a recent article from The Verge interviewed several manufacturers (including Apple) and found out that it's usually NOT the Manufacturers or Google that hold android back, basically the carriers are the ones behind it - with the exception of…
Unless you want to load the device up with tons of movies, it's unnecessary. I probably won't be using it to steam or play music a whole lot - got my phone for that. I keep a Media Server in my house and with Wireless N WiFi, there's plenty of speed to stream those. Which leaves books and Games and honestly, most…
It's the same reason why people get iPads/iPhones and people will get the MS Surface - It just works.
What about Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse Compatibility. I want to get this, then setup Splashtop GamePad to stream my PC games to it over wifi/WAN (assuming good Bandwidth of course), thus negating my need for my crappy laptop
I understand your complaints, but I admin several tablets on our domain and research them regularly for company purchases. Really, really good battery life for any tablet like device, such as the GamePad, just isn't viable financially if Nintendo wants to sell the system. The battery alone would raise the cost to…
