girls shouldn't be reading these magazines in the first place. all they are is vehicles to make girls feel bad about themselves so they buy whatever products the magazine is peddling. same for cosmo, etc.

There was a really interesting (long) article about this in the New Yorker several years ago, looking at specifically why this iniative failed.

She defines having it all as working in a demanding career and spending enough time with family. you say no one has it all, not even presidents—that's missing her point. she's pointing out why women rarely make it that far (presidency, etc).

as a resident of the district, I have to say I am kind of curious....like trainwreck curious...

I'm not sure that sex-selective abortions are non-existent here... it's a huge problem in countries like India and China, and preference for a boy is brought over with immigrants from those countries. Regardless, not sure this has any legal standing or how it would be enforced...

that first set of dialogue blows my mind... "she woke up being penetrated" = rape. how is that ambiguous?? is this kirkland retelling the conversation? he makes himself sound like a real misogynistic prick by saying that he had to "speak slowly" to the juror and explain to her that "penetration can mean sex"— earth to…
