This is kinda the problem with most game companies this days.. Art and tech department flourish with ideas and such, but every games fundamental gameplay gets simplified and "dumb-ified" into a point where it's just not fun or challenging anymore.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if this puts them further back into your so called "bubble". Taking a risk on a new IP, and then having the publisher not like the resulting sales? they'll probably push sequels to get back some winnings.. meaning, we're most likely to see Doom and/or quake remakes in the future,…
It all kinda depends on what their definition of "standard def" actually is.
you do know you can re-download addons and stuff you've bought right?.. and re-install games and such... you don't have to have your hdd near full all the time.
Sad to see you leave, yours and Tim rogers articles were what brought me to Kotaku, and also why I mostly tune in.
looks pretty crap, I wonder how all the different versions of themes will work now? *sigh*
actually there's nothing wrong with the movement, it's just based on the parkour-esque feel of mirrors edge. So if you're running towards an obstacle, you'll easily slide over it with momentum, IE just pushing space, but if you're standing still and facing that object, you'll have to hold down space, since you'd…
hmm.. so there's no voice talk at all on the 360 version? even if you're smurfing?
Haha, we afro's have it rough ;)
Pleasant Read as usual.
Whether you see blood, or hear the cuzzin, is kinda of beside that point.. It's the act in themselves that's the harsh content.
I'm not sure what Wipeout's native resolution is, but the game uses a "on the fly" scaling. Meaning that it'll often scale the image, depending on the situation.
it's upscaled. No game runs at 1080.
I'm rather glad that it's not getting a sequel. Sure it's a shame for Ninja Theory, that they don't get to cash in... but a sequel doesn't make something amazing, nor does it automatically make it great.
The boss battles were iffy yeah.. but most games usually fail on boss battles.. so that's not something new.. and they're not nearly as annoying as the rest of the game..
Not surprising really. Since they've been re-releasing so many.. I'm just hoping they'll re-release FF12 as well!.. we really don't need a remake of 7, because if you look at projects like Dirge and Crisis Core, they've recreated areas and scenes from FF7 and failed miserably to capture the essence of the…
?? FF12 is one of the few games awarded a 40/40 by famitsu... and personally I think it's the best JRPG released in the last decade... truly hoping for a re-release.
Seems like my fears have been answered. the skill/leveling system is just a tweak of the old horrid oblivion version. Instead of main/secondary skills that lvl you, every new point will increase your exp towards next level... so if they kept the old lvl scaling, it'll just mean we get the same gimped **ck when we…
In the olden days, before HDMI/DVI, then the difference in cables were actually really huge.. not just in imagery but in audio as well.. since every type of cable were good at different things.. Since it was all a conversion of digital to analog that was going on.. but with HDMI/DVI there is no loss of information,…
This is one of those games where I won't feel at all bad when buying it cheap of the pre-used shelf.
