Wait, how do you "run out"? Most of the time, at least in my (second hand) experience, when filling the prescription, they give you a three month supply. I would think that with that kind of lead time, it would be trivial to mark a calendar and schedule the follow-up/re-up in advance, so there would be at least a one…

I love that the band appears to be just as confused and horrified as I am, as if this was not at all what they signed up for.

This is why one should, at the very least, skim a book before reading it to a child: To monitor it for inappropriate content.
