Yeah... I'm very impressed that the Brits and the Chinese are giving LFTR some attention, but I'm a little upset that our own government isn't pushing for research in this area while dumping tons of money into photovoltaic research...

Thanks for clarifying this. Someone else was asking about it and I wasn't sure of the answers.
If you like cut the rope, you should try "Where's my Water"
Thanks for posting this information.
The exaggerations weren't mine; I repeated them without understanding some important distinctions. However, after looking into the thorium/lead uranium/platinum thing, I've learned that lead, uranium, and thorium are all present in the earth's crust in similar quantities. The platinum comparison doesn't begin to hold…
Nuclear power has a consistant record dating back to the dawn of human history of fewer deaths-per-watt of any power source that the human engineer has been able to conceive of.
Very fair point. Any IFR (like the LFTR,) would be vastly safer than any pressurized water reactor. 50 years ago, thorium would have been an easy no-brainer. Now, we have tons of burnable uranium waste that we could burn in an MSR. Still, an MSR could be designed that could burn our existing uranium wastes and also…
All you left is a link. Can you share with us what that has to do with the discussion? (I'm not picking on you, it's just not clear to me what it is you're trying to say.)
Someone's paying attention to how the world works.
Yeah, we could find new ways to burn uranium, which is as rare as platinum, in nuclear reactors with 1% efficiency and produces nuclear waste, including weaponizable plutonium, that will remain dangerously radioactive for more than 10,000 years -
Gary Larson did it first and did it best...
Good enough. Thanks.
This is a serious question:
I'm certainly not trying to stir the anthill, but did this comment get you unstarred?
Tape? Nah bro; use bungie cords bro.
Don't forget: Straight people have anal sex too.
I wish that this wasn't funny...
No thanks.
My only "for-emergencies-only on-phone porn" is a too-close closeup of a woman inserting a can of redbull that a friend sent me. I keep it not for titillation, but for humor value and for shock value... Every now and then when out with friends I'll send it to one of them just to get their reaction.
On my mac, I've been using an app named webmailer for forever to open up mailto links in gmail in whatever browser I want... I think it's a free app, but I've had it for so long I don't even remember for sure.
